5 Packing Tips We Learned From Kate Middleton’s North American Tour

Bring the Basics: The practical princess packs the basics, and you should too! Kate’s been spotted wearing the same pair of J Brand 811 skinny jeans three days in a row.  Think of your go-to outfits like, jeans, a tee, stylish walking shoes, and something dressier, when planning your trip outfits.

Dress Up, Dress Down: Grab pieces from your wardrobe that can be re-purposed depending on the activity for your vacation. Kate was all business as she boarded her flight to Canada in a Roland Mouret dress paired with a navy SMYTHE blazer, but a couple days later she dressed down the blazer with a pair of jeans and a ruffled blouse. Can we all say “effortless style,” together?

All About Accessories: The easiest way to take a vacation outfit from boring to brilliant is to accessorize. Choose signature accessories and statement pieces that will make your look pop, but save suitcase space. Kate sparkled in a maple leaf brooch on two separate occasions and packed a red-hot punch with a scarf during a day trip, adding a spark to an otherwise blasé outfit.

If The Shoe Fits: Shoes take up a ton of suitcase space, so Kate made sure to bring fabulous footwear that could be worn with several outfits. Nude pumps? Check. Super stylish Sebago Balas boat shoes for daywear and comfort? Check. A pair of espadrilles for a casual chic look? Check. We’re guessing you aren’t Carrie Bradshaw and you don’t have room to pack your entire shoe collection – so, only pack shoes that you know you’ll wear more than once on your vacation.

Airplane Chic: When Kate boarded her private jet set for the North American territories, she popped a pose in a Roland Mouret sheath dress. I know what you are thinking (I was too!) – that dress doesn’t look remotely airplane comfy. Wrong! The dress was made out of silk and cotton. The silk is soft and sleek, but the cotton keeps the dress from getting wrinkly. Yep, Kate one-upped us and reminded us that the friendly skies can also be chic.
